This is the first piece of cross stitch I tried after becoming ill, and only the second I had ever tried in my life! It depicts castles and cathedrals around the North East of England,
This is the second piece of cross stitch I did after becoming ill. It's a map of Arran, where we spent a wonderful holiday.
My father bought this needlepoint for my mother approximately 20 years ago. She worked on one corner, and then left it for 20 years until she gave it to me. I finished it in 2000, and now it hangs in her sitting room. It is a scene by L S Lowry, my mother's favourite artist.
This piece became affectionately known as the PFH, or Project from Hell, because it took so long to sew (between other projects) that I got heartily sick of the sight of it. As soon as it was finished, however, I remembered why I had wanted to do it in the first place! Unfortunately, as it is so large (approx 17 inches square), it still awaits framing.
